When a customer needs assistance, they just click on the remote link, key in their name and nature of their problem; and they are immediately connected to one of SolvIT's support representatives. If the customer chooses, the support rep can take control of their desktop to resolve the issue.
Our remote support service generates a unique end-user download for every session. Each applet runs for the duration of the support incident. Then it automatically uninstalls from the remote computer and cannot be reused. The customer can control or disconnect the session at any point.
Many remote desktop connection tools are initially blocked by firewalls because they send traffic inbound to remote systems. A remote connection might be established by port forwarding or complex firewall configuration, but changes to your firewall setup can compromise security.
However, most firewalls do allow outbound traffic. When you access the internet, for example, you are sending outbound traffic through your firewall. Both the support rep and the end-user send secure outbound traffic through their firewalls to SolvIT. Since all sessions are initiated via outbound connections, we can do remote computer control transparently through firewalls.
